With the country’s biggest stars donning luxurious statement pieces on the local red carpet for a charity event, actress Angel Locsin decided to do her part without all the theatrics.
Locsin said she did not attend Saturday’s ABS-CBN Ball on purpose. She explained that instead of spending for the clothes and accessories she would wear on the party, she would use the money to directly donate to the ball’s beneficiary, Bantay Bata 163.
“I think it would be better for me to donate directly to Bantay Bata the amount that I’m supposed to spend in the ball. It’s not much, but will help make a difference to someone else’s life,” Locsin said on Instagram.
However, she praised her fellow celebrities for “doing their share” to promote awareness of children’s rights.
The ABS-CBN Ball, formerly known as the Star Magic Ball, chose Bantay Bata 163 as their beneficiary in honor of ABS-CBN Foundation Chairperson Gina Lopez, who passed away last month. Bantay Bata 163, the child welfare program of the ABS-CBN Foundation, aims to serve and protect Filipino children.
