President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. assured the public that his administration’s ongoing probe into Villar-owned companies is not driven by personal conflict but by the urgent need to fix critical problems affecting Filipinos.
Speaking on his BBM Podcast, Marcos was asked directly if he harbors ill feelings toward the Villar family, whose companies PrimeWater and SIPCOR are currently under scrutiny. His response was firm but calm.
“None of this is personal,” Marcos stressed. “They are friends of mine, and I respect them. But we have to fix the problem.”
The President highlighted what’s at stake: access to basic necessities.
“Ako naman, we have to fix the problem. People have to have electricity. People have to have water. So whatever the reason is, let’s fix it. Let’s just fix it. Help me. Help me fix it. I cannot fix it on my own. You need to help me.”
The investigation into PrimeWater, a Villar-owned water service provider, came after mounting consumer complaints. PrimeWater has since vowed transparency, promising to engage in meaningful dialogue with regulators and to work with the Local Water Utilities Administration to resolve concerns.
Meanwhile, SIPCOR, a subsidiary of Villar Group’s Prime Asset Ventures, recently had its permit revoked by the Energy Regulatory Commission. SIPCOR, which supplies power to Siquijor province, allegedly violated compliance requirements.
In response, SIPCOR assured stakeholders it will address the issue responsibly, pledging to exhaust all legal remedies and resolve the matter as soon as possible.
For Marcos, however, the message remains clear: this is not about politics or personalities—it’s about making sure Filipinos have the water and electricity they deserve.
