Typhoon Marce Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Missing: NDRRMC Report

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that Typhoon Marce caused significant damage and affected many families in the Philippines.

What Happened:

  • Casualties: One person has died, and another is missing in the Ilocos Region because of the strong winds and heavy rains from Typhoon Marce.
  • Affected Areas: The typhoon hit the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), impacting a total of 261,787 people, which is about 76,622 families.
  • Evacuations: Over 26,800 people had to leave their homes and move to safer places as the storm caused flooding and dangerous conditions.

Damage:

  • Infrastructure: The storm damaged buildings, roads, and bridges, causing an estimated loss of P25.4 million in the Cagayan Valley area alone.
  • Help Provided: The government has given out P16.1 million worth of aid, including food, water, and shelter supplies, to help the affected families.

Typhoon Marce brought heavy rains and strong winds, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Emergency teams are still working to assist those in need, and efforts are ongoing to find the missing person.
