The Untold Story Behind the First ‘Bubble Gang’ Cast

It all started with a simple idea — and a title that stuck.

Some of the original “Batang Bubble,” including Isko Salvador, Caesar Cosme, and Chito Francisco, recently shared how the legendary “Bubble Gang” came to life — from its earliest brainstorming days to the moment its cast was born.

In their guest appearance on the vodcast “Your Honor,” director Caesar Cosme revealed that the concept came from former Kapuso executive Marivin Arayata.

“Noong binubuo ‘yung show, sabi niya, ‘May title ako,’ so ‘yun na,’” Direk Caesar recalled with a laugh.

From there, things started to roll.

Isko Salvador shared that he and Michael V. were originally writers for another comedy show on a different network before joining Bubble Gang. Slowly, the cast grew — with familiar names like Sunshine Cruz, Aiko Melendez, Wendell Ramos, and Antonio Aquitania, many of whom came from the iconic 90s show That’s Entertainment.

Host Chariz Solomon then asked the question everyone wondered:
Did they already know Michael V. would become the comedy genius that would define Bubble Gang for decades?

Direk Caesar smiled as he remembered that moment.

“Sabi ko, ‘To be honest, wala pong komedyante diyan,’” he admitted. “Pero nung tinanong ako, ‘Sino ang magaling?’ ‘Yun na,’” referring to Bitoy — Michael V. himself.

He revealed that Michael V. didn’t immediately say yes. It took time, and a lot of convincing, before Bitoy finally agreed to join. The rest, as they say, is comedy history.

Three years after the show first aired, another hit was born — the unforgettable segment “Ang Dating Doon,” featuring Isko (as Brod Pete), Caesar, and Chito. It became one of the most iconic sketches in Filipino TV history.

Now, “Bubble Gang” is marking its 30th anniversary with a two-part special airing on October 19 and 26.

Expect laughter and nostalgia as the show reunites its biggest stars — Ogie Alcasid, Ara Mina, Maureen Larrazabal, and Sam Pinto — with special guests Vice Ganda, Esnyr, and more.

After three decades, one thing’s clear: Bubble Gang isn’t just a show — it’s a legacy of laughter that continues to bring joy to generations.
