Signal No. 1 up over 14 provinces in Northern Luzon as ‘Nando’ intensifies

MANILA, Philippines — Several areas in Northern Luzon were put under Signal No. 1 as Typhoon “Nando” intensified moving northwestward over the Philippine Sea, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration saidon Saturday.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the weather bureau said that Nando’s center was estimated at 770 kilometers east of Echague, Isabela.

It is moving at 10 kilometers per hour (kph), has maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

The affected areas are:

1. Batanes,

2. Cagayan including Babuyan Islands,

3. Isabela,

4. Quirino,

5. the northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Kasibu, Quezon, Diadi, Bagabag, Villaverde, Solano, Ambaguio, Bayombong, Bambang, Dupax del Norte),

6. Apayao,

7. Kalinga,

8. Abra,

9. Mountain Province,

10. Ifugao,

11. Ilocos Norte,

12. the northern portion of Ilocos Sur (Sinait, Cabugao, San Juan, Magsingal, San Vicente, San Ildefonso, Santo Domingo, Bantay, Santa Catalina, City of Vigan, Santa, Caoayan),

13. the northern and central portions of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, Baler) and

14. the northern and central portions of Catanduanes (Pandan, Caramoran, Bagamanoc, Panganiban, Viga, Gigmoto, San Miguel, Baras).
