Senate Targets Online Gambling in Heated Upcoming Hearing

Senator Erwin Tulfo said he will lead a big investigation in the Senate next week about online gambling — that’s when people use phones or computers to bet money on games. He said he wants it banned completely because it’s hurting a lot of people.

👨‍⚖️ He’ll invite important groups like PAGCOR (they manage gambling) and the Department of Finance to explain what’s going on.

He said, “If it were up to me, I’d stop this right now. It’s doing more harm than good!”

📱 Caught Playing Gambling Game in Congress?!

Senator Tulfo was also mad because a congressman was caught watching online cockfighting (e-sabong) on his phone — during an important vote for House Speaker! Tulfo said that’s not right and that the congressman should explain himself to the people.

💬 Another Senator Joins the Fight

Senator Migz Zubiri gave a serious speech in the Senate. He was upset that President Marcos didn’t talk about online gambling in his recent SONA (State of the Nation Address).

He said, “Shame on you, PAGCOR. If one person gets help from gambling money, thousands more are now deep in debt and suffering.”

Senator Zubiri wants a law to ban all forms of online gambling — on websites, apps, everything.

Other senators like Loren Legarda, Risa Hontiveros, Raffy Tulfo, and Francis Pangilinan also support this idea.

🌊 Tulfo Also Wants to Fix Flood Problems

Tulfo also wants to investigate flood control projects. The government has been spending a lot of money to stop floods, but many places are still underwater during storms.

He filed Senate Resolution No. 31 to ask:
“Why are we still flooding if we spent all this money?”

President Marcos said he already ordered the DPWH to list down all flood projects from the last 3 years and show them to the public.

He said, “If we find out someone wasted money or did a bad job, they’ll face charges. We want the truth and we want justice.”
