MANILA, Philippines — The Senate Committee on Accountability of Public Officers and Investigations has authorized a strictly supervised 12-hour release of former Bulacan assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez on Saturday to allow him to retrieve documents and other materials relevant to the ongoing inquiry on the flood control project anomalies.
According to a memorandum issued by the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA), Hernandez left at 6 a.m. and was expected to return by 6 p.m. He is being escorted by OSAA personnel throughout the trip, with instructions that he must not be left unattended at any point.
Committee officials said the supervised release was intended to give Hernandez time to gather evidence that could “shed more light on the matter at hand.”
The Senate did not provide further details on the specific materials Hernandez is expected to collect.
