The Supreme Court (SC) has denied the petition seeking to stop the closure of Boracay Island.
According to SC Spokesman Atty. Theodore Te, the High Court has not issued any temporary restraining order to halt the closure plan.
SC’s decision was in response to the petition filed by three individuals on Thursday, April 26, claiming that the said closure of the country’s top tourist destination constitutes a violation of their right to travel and to due process.
The petitioners also argued that the President since had not issued a proclamation and there was no legislation backing up the planned shutdown. —Roderic Mendoza | UNTV News & Rescue
