Vice President Leni Robredo said Saturday she will prioritize job creation if she wins the presidency in the coming May elections.
“Number one, trabaho. ‘Yong number one talaga trabaho dahil sa pandemic ay ang daming naghirap, ang daming nagsara. ‘Yon talaga ‘yong tututukan natin,” Robredo said during The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews.
(We will really focus on job creation because a lot of industries closed shop amid the COVID-19 pandemic.)
Robredo said jobs will only be created with good governance, effective institutions and maximizing opportunities of local industries.
The Vice President said her second priority will be strengthening the health sector, and the education system which has been hampered by the lack of in-person classes also due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“‘Yung pangalawa, ang ating health, ang ating kalusugan programa sa kalusugan itong pandemic ay na-reveal ‘yong lahat ng mga systemic ills ng ating healthcare system, sisiguraduhin natin na ‘yung access to medical care, access to healthcare, available siya kahit sa mahihirap,” she said.
(The pandemic revealed the systemic ills of our health care system, and we will ensure that the access to medical care, health care, is available to all, including the poor.)
“Pangatlo, education. Lagi kong sinasabi na kailangan na tayong mag deklara ng education crisis even before the pandemic. ‘Yong ating mga lagay sa mga assessment, international assessments kulelat tayo kaya ‘yon ay tututukan natin,” she added.
(Third is education. We need to declare education is in crisis, and this has been the situation even before the pandemic. Based on international assessments, we are at tail end, so we will focus on that.) — RSJ, GMA News
