Richard faces tax evasion charges

THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has slapped P38.57 million tax evasion cases against Richard Gutierrez and his production company, R Gutz Production Corp. for their “willful attempt to evade the payment of income tax and value added tax in 2012: and for deliberate failure to pay income tax return and quarterly VAT returns” in same year.

Tax investigators said the respondents underdeclared the actor’s income in 2012 by P36.6 million.

Investigators also said they discovered that Richard failed to file the company’s annual income tax return for 2012 as well as its second, third and fourth quarterly VAT returns for the same year.
