More rains as Karding, LPA enhance Habagat

Tropical Depression Karding (Yagi) still has no direct effects on the country.

As of 3:00 a.m. on Thursday (August 9), PAGASA located the weather system at 1,265 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

Habagat or southwest monsoon, enhanced by Karding and another low-pressure area (LPA) over the West Philippine Sea, is currently affecting most parts of the country.

Based on the forecast of PAGASA, Western Visayas and most parts of Luzon except Cagayan Valley may expect scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms will be experienced over the rest of the country.

Strong to gale winds will prevail over the western sections of Luzon and its coastal water condition will be rough to very rough, which may be dangerous for small fishing vessels.

Karding is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday or Saturday. — UNTV News & Rescue
