Quezon City roads to undergo weekend reblocking

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will implement reblocking and repairs on several major roads in Quezon City, Caloocan, and Makati beginning 11 p.m. Friday, September 12.

The work will continue until 5 a.m. on September 15, as part of DPWH’s regular maintenance program to address road damage and ensure smoother travel on Metro Manila’s busiest thoroughfares.

In Quezon City, affected roads are:

Fairview Avenue,Payatas Road,Commonwealth Avenue,Regalado Avenue,Quezon Avenue,Aurora Boulevard,E. Rodriguez Sr. and Jr. Avenues andG. Araneta Avenue.

Motorists passing through Fairview Avenue near Angel’s Burger, NCBA, Peacock Street, and Xfinity Gas Station, as well as Regalado Avenue near Jollibee Greater Lagro, are advised to expect traffic build-up.

Repairs will also cover Payatas Road in several segments that include:

Abris Street to Kapatiran Street,Lanzones Street to Bansalangin Street andMapayapa Street to Kapalaran Street

Along Commonwealth Avenue, reblocking will take place from Don Jose to Don Fabian and from Don Fabian to the Manggahan MRT Station.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of the Mindanao Avenue underpass will be affected, with one lane from the center closed in each direction.

Meanwhile, motorists along General Luis Street, C3 Road westbound between 9th and 8th Streets in Caloocan, and EDSA southbound in Guadalupe, Makati City, should also brace for slow traffic.

The DPWH said the affected roads would be fully passable by early Monday morning. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes to avoid congestion in the reblocking sites.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will deploy traffic enforcers to assist motorists and manage the expected increase in volume in surrounding streets.
