The term extension of Police Director General Ronald Bato Dela Rosa as chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) may be indefinite.
Dela Rosa said that he was not able to ask the president about the duration of his term extension in their conversation last night.
“I was told it’s indefinite pero hintayin ko na lang paglumabas yung order kung how definite is indefinite (I was told its indefinite but I will just wait for the order on how definite is indefinite),” said the chief.
Based on Republic Act 6975, a chief PNP’s term will not exceed four years unless there is an existing national emergency in which the president can extend the term of the chief PNP for as long as he sees fit. — Lea Ylagan | UNTV News & Rescue
