Floyd Mayweather Jr. arrived in Manila on Tuesday– and attended to business far from the boxing ring.
After a quick getaway in world-class Boracay, the retired American boxer was back in the capital to fulfill personal commitments, including an unexpected stop for a special skin treatment session with celebrity dermatologist Vicki Belo.
It turned out that the visit of Mayweather, who held the “Pretty Boy” monicker in his early boxing years, was for a purpose. Belo introduced him as the newest ambassador of the medical group.
The retired boxer was pampered with a “thermage” session, a non-invasive skin tightening treatment which uses radiofrequency technology.
Mayweather, sporting “The Money Team” cap with the Philippine colors, also held a media briefing Tuesday afternoon at the Resorts World Manila hotel.
Mayweather defeated eight-division world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao for the WBO world welterweight title four years ago in a match dubbed “The Fight of the Century.”
There are reports that the two fighters will meet in Manila if their schedules permit, but Mayweather insisted there will be no rematch as he “got the job done right the first time.”
In July 2018, Pacquiao revealed to CNN Philippines that he was open to a rematch with Mayweather.
“If he returns to being active as a boxer, then maybe we can fight. I’m open with it,” he said.
Mayweather retired from professional boxing in August 2017 with an unblemished 50-0 record.
