PNP Guarantees Lawful Arrest of Zaldy Co & Others

The Philippine National Police is moving with caution and resolve as it works with key government agencies on the arrest warrants issued against former congressman Zaldy Co and 17 others.

PNP Acting Chief, Police Lieutenant General Jose Nartatez Jr., assured the public on Friday that every step taken will be lawful, transparent, and grounded in due process.
He stressed that the police are in close coordination with the Sandiganbayan and other concerned agencies to ensure an orderly implementation of the warrants.

“We assure the public that due process will be strictly observed,” Nartatez said, emphasizing that all 18 individuals involved will receive every right guaranteed by law.

The PNP added that this moment marks a continued effort by government institutions to strengthen transparency, accountability, and fairness—values the police force says it remains committed to uphold.

The warrants stem from the Sandiganbayan’s findings related to alleged anomalies in various flood control projects across the country.
Because of this, hold departure orders have been issued for all the accused.

However, the Department of Foreign Affairs clarified that no court order has yet been issued to cancel Co’s passport—a detail that adds another layer to the unfolding situation.

According to the latest reports, Zaldy Co was last seen in Japan, leaving authorities and the public watching closely as the case continues to develop.
