The Philippine Embassy in Singapore has once again reminded Filipinos about the city-state’s strict rule against moonlighting—or taking on jobs outside of their primary employment.
In a statement, the embassy stressed: “Engaging with any remunerated work outside their primary employment is illegal and is subject to penalties.”
The warning comes as many overseas Filipinos look for side jobs to earn extra income. But in Singapore, the law is clear: moonlighting is an offense.
Those caught breaking this rule face serious consequences. Violators may be fined up to SGD 20,000 (around ₱850,000) and could even spend up to two years in prison.
On top of that, their work passes may be revoked, and they could be banned from working in Singapore altogether.
The embassy reminded all Filipinos—whether already employed in Singapore or planning to work there—to follow the country’s labor laws and avoid risking their future.
