‘Pikachu’ collapses at Panagbenga Festival 2024

MANILA, Philippines — A woman in Baguio wearing an inflatable Pikachu costume collapsed during the Panagbenga Festival. 

In her interview with “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho,” 22-year-old Rejail Laporre said she exerted extra effort in portraying Pikachu because of the festival. 

“Simula 6 a.m. hanggang 9 a.m. suot-suot ko na ‘yung Pikachu na costume. Since marami pong turista no’ng parade po na nakakakilala po kay Pikachu, kinailangan ko pong mag-exert ng effort para po pasayahin ‘yung mga tao,” she said.  

“Umiikot na po ‘yung paningin ko, nahirapan na po akong huminga dahil nga po nasa loob ako ni Pikachu. Since inflatable po siya, doble po ang init sa loob at walang nagci-circulate na hangin. Nawalan na po ako ng malay,” she added. 

Rejail said that she found social media users’ comments on her as insensitive.  

“Dalhin daw po si Pikachu sa Pokemon center, natatawa po ako pero parang iniisip ko na medyo insensitive sila sa part na ‘yon. Nahimatay ako pero ginagawa nilang katatawanan,” she said. 

According to findings, Rejail suffered from over-fatigue.
