Meggie Ochoa became the first Filipino to reign supreme on the global jiu-jitsu stage.
Ochoa bagged gold at the 2018 JuJutsu World Championship Sunday in Malmö, Sweden.
The 28-year-old athlete dominated the women’s seniors 49-kilogram division after outclassing Canada’s Ni Ni Vicky Hoang, 2-0, in the final.
It has been a productive year for Ochoa, as she nabbed gold in the Jiujitsu World Tour in London in March and bronze in the Asian Games in Indonesia in August.
