MANILA — The Philippines is turning heads in India — and this time, it’s not just about beaches. It’s about connection, culture, and curiosity.
In a growing effort to welcome more Indian travelers, the Philippine government is taking big steps to showcase the country’s best destinations — from the turquoise waters of Palawan to the lively streets of Manila.
Last October 15, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) kicked off an exclusive “Itinerary Training” in New Delhi, where travel experts and industry professionals from across India gathered to learn about what makes the Philippines truly unforgettable.
And the reaction? Pure excitement.
“The Delhi session was just the opening salvo,” said the DFA. “Buzz Travel is bringing this series across India — Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, and Kolkata — with the full support of our Embassy and Honorary Consulates.”
Led by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) through its India partner Buzz Travel, the workshop drew around 60 key travel stakeholders. Their mission: to design dream trips that showcase the Philippines’ most-loved destinations.
Attendees were introduced to tailor-made travel itineraries ranging from three to seven days — starting from Manila, the country’s dynamic capital, and branching out to world-renowned islands like Palawan, Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, and Siargao.
The training didn’t just stop at beautiful photos. It covered everything Indian travelers need to know — logistics, island connections, and the kind of experiences that speak to every type of wanderer, from the budget-savvy explorer to the luxury jet-setter seeking private island escapes.
For many Indian travel agents, this wasn’t just business. It was inspiration.
“The Philippines offers everything — adventure, relaxation, culture, and world-class hospitality,” one participant shared. “It’s a destination that feels both exotic and welcoming.”
And the timing couldn’t be better.
With the visa-free entry for Indian tourists now in effect and Air India’s five weekly direct flights between Manila and New Delhi, the travel barriers are quickly disappearing.
“Ease of visa, direct connections, and stunning destinations — it’s the perfect mix,” said Philippine Ambassador to India Josel Ignacio. “We’re entering the ‘Goldilocks Zone’ of tourism — everything is just right for growth.”
The numbers back it up. In 2024, over 30.89 million Indians traveled abroad, a 10.79% jump from the previous year. Of these, nearly 78,000 chose the Philippines — and that number is only expected to rise.
With stronger ties, smoother travel, and the irresistible beauty of the islands, one thing is clear — the Philippines is ready to capture the hearts of Indian travelers, one unforgettable journey at a time.
