Philippines bags 6 titles at 2025 World Travel Awards

The Philippines has once again proven its place among the world’s best, taking home six major titles at the 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA) during the Asia and Oceania Gala Ceremony held in Hong Kong on Monday.

The country continued its winning streak, proudly earning Asia’s Leading Beach Destination for the eighth time, Asia’s Leading Dive Destination for the seventh time, and Asia’s Leading Island Destination for the second time.

Adding to the celebration, Boracay once again captured hearts and headlines after being named Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, marking another back-to-back victory for the world-famous island.

Not to be outshined, Clark Freeport Zone also made waves after winning Asia’s Leading Meetings and Conference Destination, while the Department of Tourism (DOT) was recognized as Asia’s Leading Tourist Board—a testament to the country’s strong and united tourism efforts.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco expressed deep pride and gratitude, dedicating the awards to the people behind the scenes.

“More than the recognition, this is a celebration of our people—our tourism frontliners, guides, hospitality workers, weavers, boatmen, and countless others—whose warmth, hospitality, and resilience continue to inspire travelers from all over the globe,” Frasco said.

She also reaffirmed the DOT’s mission to strengthen the Philippines’ global reputation as a must-visit destination.

“We continue to empower our people with meaningful livelihood opportunities, foster sustainable growth in our local communities, and ensure that every traveler experiences the world-class warmth and hospitality that define the Filipino brand of service with excellence,” she added.

Last year, the Philippines hosted the 31st World Travel Awards, where it took home eight major titles including Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction (Intramuros) and Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination (Cebu)—further proving that the country’s charm and culture never fail to captivate the world.

Often dubbed as the “Oscars of the travel industry,” the World Travel Awards, founded in 1993 in London, continues to honor excellence in tourism across national, regional, and global stages.

This year’s win is more than just about trophies—it’s about the Filipino spirit, the smiles that welcome every visitor, and the islands that never stop inspiring wanderers from all corners of the world.
