Are your favorite brands, gadgets, or even OFW remittances getting more expensive or cheaper? To know that, we have to look at the exchange rates—how much one country’s money is worth compared to the Philippine Peso (PHP).
On August 6, 2025, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) released a list showing how much 1 unit of different countries’ money is worth in pesos. Let’s break down the top 15 currencies and explain what’s happening, even in a way a 4th grader can understand.
🇺🇸 1. US Dollar (USD) = ₱57.45
The US Dollar is still one of the strongest. This means if you have 1 US dollar, you can exchange it for ₱57.45 in the Philippines. OFWs in the US are likely happy—their remittances have strong buying power.
🇯🇵 2. Japanese Yen (JPY) = ₱0.3893
1 Yen is worth less than 50 centavos! That means the Japanese Yen is very weak compared to the peso. If you’re traveling to Japan, you’ll need a lot of yen to match 1 peso.
🇬🇧 3. British Pound (GBP) = ₱76.41
One of the strongest currencies today! 1 British Pound is equal to over ₱76. OFWs in the UK will have a good exchange rate when sending money home.
🇭🇰 4. Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) = ₱7.32
Still stronger than many Asian currencies, but weaker than the US dollar. 1 HKD gives you just over ₱7.
🇨🇭 5. Swiss Franc (CHF) = ₱71.15
Another very strong currency! Switzerland’s Franc stays high in value—good news if you’re earning in CHF.
🇨🇦 6. Canadian Dollar (CAD) = ₱41.71
Moderately strong. 1 Canadian dollar can get you over ₱41 in the Philippines.
🇸🇬 7. Singapore Dollar (SGD) = ₱44.63
Singapore’s economy is stable, and so is its money. 1 SGD equals ₱44.63, showing strong value.
🇦🇺 8. Australian Dollar (AUD) = ₱37.16
Still strong but lower than SGD and CAD. This means if you’re working in Australia, each dollar you send home brings in ₱37+.
🇧🇭 9. Bahraini Dinar (BHD) = ₱152.39
💰 The most powerful currency in the top 15! 1 Dinar = ₱152. That’s 2-3x stronger than the US dollar. OFWs in Bahrain get a lot of value for every dinar.
🇰🇼 10. Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) = N/A
No exchange rate was listed today, possibly due to system delays or no trading info available.
🇸🇦 11. Saudi Riyal (SAR) = ₱15.31
A common currency for OFWs! Not as strong as the US dollar, but steady. Every Riyal brings in ₱15.31.
🇧🇳 12. Brunei Dollar (BND) = ₱44.46
Almost equal in value to the Singapore Dollar, since both countries’ currencies are tightly connected.
🇮🇩 13. Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) = ₱0.0035
Very small in value. 1 Rupiah equals less than one centavo! You’d need almost 300 Rupiah to make ₱1.
🇹🇭 14. Thai Baht (THB) = ₱1.78
1 Baht = almost ₱2, showing a stronger value than many other Southeast Asian currencies.
🇦🇪 15. UAE Dirham (AED) = ₱15.64
A strong currency often used by OFWs. Just like the Saudi Riyal, 1 Dirham gives you a good ₱15+.
💡 What Does This All Mean?
-
Strong currencies like the British Pound, Swiss Franc, and Bahraini Dinar give the most pesos per unit.
-
Weaker ones like the Yen, Rupiah, and Baht give less peso, meaning they are less valuable in exchange.
-
OFWs in countries with strong currencies benefit more when sending money to the Philippines.
-
If you’re shopping for imported goods, currencies like the US dollar and Euro being high might mean more expensive prices for gadgets, food, or fuel.
