Philippine Peso Exchange Rates : August 22, 2025

Have you ever wondered why some money can buy more than others? Today, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) released its Reference Exchange Rate Bulletin for August 22, 2025, showing how the Philippine peso (₱) compares with the world’s top currencies.

Let’s break down the Top 15 currencies and see what’s happening:

  1. US Dollar (USD) – 💵 1 dollar equals ₱57.23. The dollar is still the most powerful currency used worldwide, and it’s the standard for comparing others.

  2. Japanese Yen (JPY) – 💴 1 yen is only ₱0.38. It looks small, but Japan’s yen is used in huge amounts for trade, so it’s still important.

  3. British Pound (GBP) – 💷 1 pound equals ₱76.76. This is much stronger than the dollar, showing how powerful the UK’s currency remains.

  4. Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) – 💲 1 HKD equals ₱7.32. It’s small compared to the US dollar, but very stable because of Hong Kong’s financial power.

  5. Swiss Franc (CHF) – 💶 1 franc equals ₱70.80. Switzerland’s currency is trusted because the country is known for banking and stability.

  6. Canadian Dollar (CAD) – 🇨🇦 1 CAD equals ₱41.14. It’s weaker than the US dollar, but still widely used in trade.

  7. Singapore Dollar (SGD) – 🇸🇬 1 SGD equals ₱44.42. This shows Singapore’s strong economy even though it’s a small country.

  8. Australian Dollar (AUD) – 🇦🇺 1 AUD equals ₱36.73. This is big in global trade, especially for minerals and exports.

  9. Bahraini Dinar (BHD) – 🇧🇭 1 dinar equals a huge ₱151.80! This is one of the world’s strongest currencies, thanks to oil-rich Bahrain.

  10. Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) – 🇰🇼 Data not available in today’s bulletin, but usually it’s even stronger than Bahrain’s dinar, often topping the list worldwide.

  11. Saudi Riyal (SAR) – 🇸🇦 1 riyal equals ₱15.25. Important because of millions of overseas Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia.

  12. Brunei Dollar (BND) – 🇧🇳 1 BND equals ₱44.25. Similar to Singapore’s dollar because their economies are closely tied.

  13. Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) – 🇮🇩 1 rupiah is only ₱0.0035. It looks very small, but Indonesia uses it in large numbers—thousands and millions at a time.

  14. Thai Baht (THB) – 🇹🇭 1 baht equals ₱1.75. Stronger than the rupiah, and very important in Southeast Asia trade.

  15. UAE Dirham (AED) – 🇦🇪 1 dirham equals ₱15.58. This matters for many Filipinos working in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

👉 Looking at these, the strongest currency today against the peso is the Bahraini dinar (₱151.80), while the weakest is the Indonesian rupiah (₱0.0035).

The BSP also reported that the peso is trading at around ₱56.95 to the US dollar in the markets.

This exchange rate report matters because it affects:

  • OFWs’ remittances (how much their families receive in pesos).

  • Imports and exports (how much goods cost when bought or sold abroad).

  • Travel expenses (how much Filipinos need when going abroad).

So the big question is: Will the peso get stronger or weaker in the coming months? 🌍💱
