PH Wins Re-election as UN Tourism VP

The Philippines has been reelected to two important roles in a group called UN Tourism – kind of like a team of countries working together to make travel better for everyone in the world!

🔹 Role 1: Vice President of the General Assembly (like a super important meeting for all the members)
🔹 Role 2: Chair of the East Asia and Pacific group (that’s like being the leader of countries in our neighborhood!)

This will be from 2025 to 2027, which means for 2 whole years, we get to help lead and make smart decisions for tourism in our region. 🌏✈️

This exciting news was shared in a meeting held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Our Tourism Secretary, Christina Frasco, was there and said a big thank you to all the countries that voted for the Philippines.

She also said we want to work together more, be friends, and help each other grow in tourism — that means making travel fun, safe, and helpful for everyone, especially the people who live in the places tourists visit.

💡 Did you know?
Last year, the Philippines also led some big tourism events. Over 600 people from 40 countries came to Cebu for a special food and travel forum! 🍲✈️

This year, other countries like Japan and Fiji also want to be leaders. And guess what? South Korea might help with online tourism classes too!

Ms. Frasco shared that the Philippines really cares about:

  • Teaching people more about tourism 📚

  • Using cool tech and digital tools 🧑‍💻

  • Making sure tourism helps locals too ❤️

She said, “We want to make sure tourism doesn’t just bring visitors, but also helps our communities and protects our beautiful places for the future.”

The big boss of UN Tourism, Zurab Pololikashvili, praised the Philippines and said we’ve done a great job. He even said they want to build a Tourism Academy in Cebu to teach more people about travel jobs!

In short?
The Philippines is doing awesome in global tourism — helping lead, teach, and make travel better for everyone. 🌍💙
