PH logs lowest Covid-19 cases since July at 3,656

THE Philippines logged its lowest number of new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases at 3,656 on Wednesday, according to the Department of Health (DoH).

It was the lowest since July 14 when the DoH reported 3,806 cases, before the surge caused by the Delta variant of the virus.

The DoH attributed the decline to the low tests reported on Monday, with only 42,296 samples processed by its laboratories for a positivity rate of 11 percent. Two did not submit their data.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is at 2.735 million, of which 2.5 percent or 67,061 cases are active.

Of the total, 2.627 million have recovered and 40,977 have died.

The occupancy rate of hospital beds for Covid-19 patients in intensive care units (ICUs), isolation units and wards in Metro Manila is at 53 percent and 39 percent each for isolation units and wards.

The occupancy rate of hospital beds for Covid-19 patients in ICUs, isolation units and wards nationwide are 60 percent, 46 percent and 44 percent respectively.
