PH logs lowest Covid-19 caseload since June 2020 at 235

THE Philippines reported its lowest coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) caseload this year with 235 new infections on Tuesday, according to the Department of Health (DoH).

It also reported the lowest number of active cases and the lowest positivity rate since data became available last year.

The 235 infections was the lowest since June 7, 2020, when the country reported 227 Covid-19 infections.

The active cases are also at its lowest at 10,525, which is 0.4 percent of the 2.837 million reported in the country since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 24,120 tests were processed by the DoH on Sunday, December 12, of which, 0.9 percent, or 217 samples, returned positive.

Total recoveries were at 2.776 million, including 780 new ones, or 97.9 percent of all cases.

Ten more fatalities were reported, raising the toll to 50,351.

Nine of the deaths were in December 2021 and one in October.

Occupancy rate of beds for Covid-19 infected patients is 23 percent in intensive care units (ICUs), 24 percent in isolation, and 12 percent in wards across the country.
