PH Creative Economy Soars to ₱1.94T in 2024 – Up 8.7%!

The Philippines’ creative industries made a massive impact in 2024, contributing an impressive ₱1.94 trillion to the national economy, according to the latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). This marks an 8.7% jump from ₱1.78 trillion in 2023, proving that creativity isn’t just about art—it’s big business!

How Creative Industries Power the Economy

The creative economy played a major role in the country’s financial growth, accounting for 7.3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The PSA defines the creative economy as industries involved in:
Film, TV, and music production
Digital and interactive media
Advertising, research, and artistic services
Publishing, printing, and media
Visual and performing arts
Cultural heritage, museums, and exhibits

Top Earning Creative Sectors

Among all creative industries, symbols, images, and related activities took the biggest slice of the pie, generating ₱640.29 billion or 33% of the total creative economy in 2024.

Other high-earning sectors included:
📢 Advertising, research, and artistic services – 21.4%
🎮 Digital interactive goods & services – 20.6%

Booming Job Market in Creative Fields

Not only did creative industries generate huge revenue, but they also created more jobs! Employment in this sector jumped to 7.51 million in 2024, up 3.9% from 7.23 million in 2023.

Creative industry jobs made up 15.4% of total employment in the Philippines, showing just how vital this sector is.

Top Employment Contributors:
🎭 Traditional cultural expressions – 36.6%
🎨 Symbols & images-related activities – 29.5%
📊 Advertising, research & artistic services – 17.9%

What’s Next?

The PSA revealed that this data is based on a pilot study, and while the numbers are preliminary, they show huge potential. The agency is working to refine its methodology and institutionalize the Philippine Creative Economy Satellite Account for more accurate tracking in the future—pending approval and funding from the government.

With the creative industry booming, this could mean more opportunities for artists, designers, digital creators, and innovators in the coming years.
