MANILA TIMES

THE Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in a single day dropped further to 12,805 on Wednesday, the Department of Health (DoH) said.

The number pushed the total to 2.536 million.

The DoH said, however, that the low figure was due to low test output, with 51,327 tests reported in the system on Monday, 23 percent of which were found positive for the virus.

The DoH said the number of cases that were tested were lower than the 70,134 daily average in the past seven days.

There are 132,339 active cases, 76.7 percent are mild, 16.4 percent are asymptomatic, 3.91 percent are moderate, and three percent are severe and critical.

Total recoveries are at 2.365 million, including 12,236 new ones.

The death toll is at 38,164, with 186 new fatalities and 292 others that were included in the count after they were retrieved from the database of the CovidKAYA system.

Occupancy rate of beds for Covid-19 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs), isolation units and wards are at 74 percent, 63 percent and 67 percent respectively.
