Passenger nabbed for cellphone theft at Bohol airport

MANILA, Philippines — Aviation police arrested a 34-year-old female passenger for stealing a cellphone at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport.

The Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) of the Philippine National Police on Monday said that police officers responded to a theft report on September 14, 2025. The victim, a 24-year-old female overseas Filipino worker (OFW), said that her cellphone had been stolen.

The victim, who arrived from Manila, said she inadvertently left her iPhone 15 at the restroom.

When she went back to recover her phone, she found the cubicle occupied by the suspect. Asked if she saw a phone, the  woman said she had no knowledge of its whereabouts.

The suspect, a resident of Pasig City, proceeded to board a hotel transfer van.

Responding officers led by Pat. Alexis Mendez, inspected the suspect’s belongings, but found nothing. However, a search of the van uncovered the missing iPhone stashed underneath the driver’s seat.

The suspect was immediately arrested and taken to the police station at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport for questioning.
