OVP Races to Help Flood Victims Amid Growing Crisis

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) is working hard to help families who were badly affected by the heavy rains and flooding happening across the country.

As of Thursday, the OVP said it gave help to 1,200 families in the town of Balungao, Pangasinan. That help came in the form of relief boxes filled with food, hygiene kits, blankets, mosquito nets, water jugs, and more. These are things people really need when they are forced to leave their homes.

But they’re not stopping there.

On Friday, the OVP will send 2,443 more relief and food boxes to another town in Pangasinan called Umingan. So far, a total of 3,446 families in Pangasinan have already received help from the OVP.

The OVP also rushed to help people in Quezon City after big floods hit many places there. On Wednesday, they visited three evacuation centers in Barangays Balingasa, Manresa, and Apolonio Samson, where more than 500 families got relief goods.

Since the start of the week, the OVP said they have already given out nearly 6,000 relief boxes to people in Western Visayas, Northern Luzon, and Metro Manila (also known as the National Capital Region).

But the help didn’t stop at boxes.

The OVP Kalusugan Food Truck also went around Quezon City and Manila, giving out hot meals and water to tired evacuees, brave responders, and kind-hearted volunteers. This happened while rains kept pouring due to strong storms and the Habagat (Southwest Monsoon), which made things even worse.

The OVP said they will keep helping more families as long as the flooding and rains continue.
