Over 1K Devotees Seek Medical Help During Good Friday Procession

Did you know that more than 1,000 people needed help from doctors and nurses during the big Good Friday procession in Quiapo, Manila?

Every year, thousands of people walk in a long line behind the statue of Jesus Nazareno to pray and show their faith. This year, the walk started at 11:15 p.m. on Maundy Thursday and ended at 10:45 a.m. on Good Friday. That’s over 11 hours of walking!

👥 How many people joined?
About 532,000 devotees came from all over the Philippines to take part in this Holy Week tradition!

🚑 How many people got sick or hurt?

  • A total of 1,152 people asked for medical help.

  • 9 of them were sent to the hospital.

  • 3 of those were in serious condition, meaning they were very sick or badly hurt.

The church, led by Father Ramon Jade Licuanan, said they are still checking on how those people are doing and promised to give more updates soon.

Yes! Even with so many people, there were no problems with peace, safety, or security. Everything was peaceful and organized.

🙏 What did the church say?
The Quiapo Church thanked the government workers, police officers, doctors, volunteers, and all the people who helped keep the celebration safe, clean, and holy.
