Over 100 Filipino Teachers Evacuated as Thailand Clashes Erupt

More than 100 Filipinos in Thailand were safely evacuated as armed clashes intensified in several areas, prompting swift action from local authorities.

Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Millicent Cruz confirmed that those evacuated were Filipino teachers assigned to locations affected by the violence. The update was shared through a report by GMA Integrated News.

Ligtas naman sila,” Cruz assured.
They are safe.

Because of the clashes, all classes in the affected areas have been suspended. Teachers are currently under a “no work, no pay” arrangement — but safety, Cruz emphasized, comes first.

No Filipino is in trouble. Lahat ay ligtas, lahat ay accounted for,” she said.
No one is missing. Everyone has been accounted for.

The ambassador also moved to calm concerns over other Filipinos in the country, especially athletes representing the Philippines in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.

Ang mga atleta natin ay siguradong safe,” Cruz said.
Bangkok remains secure, and Thai authorities have put strict safety measures in place to ensure the protection of all participants.

Thailand, she stressed, continues to host the SEA Games because the capital is stable and well-guarded.

The recent unrest stems from a long-standing border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia, which has dragged on for more than a century. The two nations continue to contest several undemarcated points along their 817-kilometer land border.

Tensions flared again recently, despite a ceasefire reportedly brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, raising fresh concerns in nearby areas.

For now, Filipino teachers have been moved out of harm’s way — safe, accounted for, and waiting for calmer days ahead.
