Kapuso comedy legend Michael V., better known as Bitoy, shared the story behind his viral spoof of a Senate hearing on alleged corruption in flood control projects.
The idea sparked when he noticed something familiar while watching the hearing.
“Actually, una kong napansin kaagad ’yan sa Senate hearing. Parang kamukha ko siya. Konting effort na lang, magagaya ko na siya,” Michael V. said in an interview with GMANetwork.com.
From Observation to Viral Parody
At first, Bitoy didn’t immediately plan to copy the senator. But the flood of requests from netizens pushed him to bring the idea to the Bubble Gang team.
“Hindi ko muna inisip na gayahin right away. Pero dahil sa dami ng messages na nagpa-flood sa feed ko, binato ko na agad sa creative team. And they had the same idea rin pala,” he explained.
On September 8, Bubble Gang released the teaser of the sketch—and it quickly went viral.
“Nagulat ako dahil nakatalikod pa lang, ’di pa nga nila nakikita ’yung mukha, na-excite na agad ’yung mga tao,” Michael V. said, teasing viewers to expect even more laughter this Sunday.
Comedy With Purpose
Michael V. emphasized that the spoof, where he plays the parody character Ciala Dismaya, is not meant to offend anyone.
“Kung ano ’yung issue sa Senado, ’yun din ang issue na tinackle namin. Pero with the Bubble Gang formula, kailangan ilihis mo nang konti at gawing humorous. Ang attempt namin ay hindi para manira ng tao kundi para magpatawa ng mga tao,” he clarified.
He assured fans: “This Sunday, babaha ng katatawanan.”
