With a heavy heart, actress and comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto finally broke her silence on the passing of her husband, Trevor Magallanes.
In a vlog titled “Nagpakatotoo si Rufa Mae!” uploaded Thursday on YouTube, she clarified the cause of his death and ended swirling rumors online.
Seeking Closure
Rufa Mae admitted that at first, she didn’t want to reveal details, worried that harsh online comments might traumatize their daughter, Athena. But in the end, she chose to speak up—for closure.
She also shared how she flew to the US to personally retrieve Trevor’s body, arrange a chapel, organize prayers, and give him a proper celebration of life—despite having very few friends abroad to lean on.
“Walang traumatic,” she said.
Family History
In the vlog, Rufa Mae introduced Trevor’s older brother, Jesse, who revealed that heart attacks run in their family, claiming their grandfather, uncle, and father had also died from the same condition.
Love, Loss, and Unfinished Chapters
Rufa Mae first confirmed Trevor’s death on July 31, asking for prayers while their families gathered information. Later, she admitted the shock of being a widow, especially since she and Trevor had never been annulled.
The couple married in 2016 and welcomed their daughter Athena the following year. Though Rufa had earlier spoken about their marital struggles, even saying in January that they were in a “rough patch,” she had no plans to file for divorce. By May, she admitted they were both ready to part ways but chose to respect each other’s decisions.
Now, with his passing, Rufa Mae faces life as a widow—carrying both grief and strength as she continues to raise their daughter while honoring Trevor’s memory.
