MANILA, Philippines — Some welcome news to start your week: no tropical cyclones in sight!
The state weather bureau, PAGASA, announced on Sunday that the country is expected to enjoy generally fair weather in the coming days. That’s right — no storms brewing for now.
But don’t put your umbrellas away just yet.
According to weather specialist Robert Badrina, the southwest monsoon — locally known as habagat — will still linger, especially over the western parts of Central and Northern Luzon. If you’re in the Ilocos Region, Zambales, or Bataan, expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms popping up here and there.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, a different system is at play.
The easterlies — warm and humid winds from the Pacific — are sweeping through Caraga and the Davao Region. That means cloudy skies and scattered thunderstorms are likely in those areas too.
As for Metro Manila and most of the country? Expect a mix of sun and clouds, with the possibility of localized thunderstorms by late afternoon or evening.
So while there’s no major storm on the horizon, it’s still best to stay weather-aware. Pack an umbrella, stay dry, and enjoy the calmer skies — for now.
