Moreno dares Marcos camp to pay P23B: ‘Final na pala eh’
Presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno on Thursday dared the camp of fellow presidential bet Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to pay the P23 billion estate tax debt after a general counsel of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas said this was the amount the Supreme Court ruled with finality.
The Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer made the statement when asked about the remark of PFP general counsel George Briones that the remainder of the P203 billion debt of the Marcos family may still be subject to reconciliation.
Marcos is running for president under the PFP.
“Pagbigyan natin si attorney. Bayaran mo na ‘yung P23 billion. Oh, attorney, final na pala, eh,” Moreno said in an ambush interview in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro.
“Gamitin namin pambayad sa ano, pang-ayuda natin sa mga farmers, bili tayo ng mga fertilizers… iayuda natin sa mga driver ng jeep, bus, taxi, grab, tricycle, kasi hirap na hirap sila,” he added.
The Manila mayor also said he is happy that he is not “fake news.”
Marcos has previously claimed that there is “a lot of fake news involved” in the issues regarding his family’s ill-gotten wealth.
“Sinabi na niya, inamin na niya. Umamin din, awa ng Diyos, awa ng Diyos. Talagang may Diyos eh, no? At least hindi tayo nagsisinungaling. SIla na rin ang umamin,” Moreno said.
According to Moreno, the admittance of an estate tax debt is more important, regardless of how much is owed by the family.
“Whether P23 billion or P203 billion based on final assessment, what matters most is may P23 billion kang dapat bayaran. At inamin mo na, na dapat bayaran. Tanong, bayaran mo na ngayon. Kailangan ng bansa ng pera,” he said.
“Pangalawa, ang dami mong pera. Biruin mo buwis mo pa lang P23 billion na, paano pa kaya ‘yung natira? I mean, be honest to yourself. But anyway, that’s your problem not mine. Someday, magbabayad talaga kayo,” he added.–AOL, GMA News
