Minors among 8 rescued from alleged sex trafficking in Manila

Eight persons, including six minors aged 9 to 12, were rescued from alleged sex trafficking activities in an entrapment operation in Manila.

According to a “24 Oras” report by John Consulta on Tuesday, the suspect was arrested after transacting and accepting payment from an undercover National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operative.

“‘Yung una, magpapadala sila ng pictures na katunayan na nag-a-alok sila ng mga menor de edad na kabataan and then ime-meet up at prepresyuhan,” said NBI Violence Against Women and Children Division chief Yehlen Agus.

The NBI said that the victims’ parents were not aware that their children were being trafficked online.

The suspect is currently detained at the NBI detention facility and will face complaints for qualified trafficking and child abuse.

GMA Integrated News is trying to get a comment from the suspect.

Meanwhile, the minor victims have been turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for counselling and psychological intervention.–Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
