Mika Salamanca, the grand winner of Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition, made fans emotional after she shared a heartfelt story during a media conference on Thursday. She revealed that her old singing videos, which are now going viral online, were all for her mom, who works far away from home as an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker).
Mika talked about her childhood and how her mother, Mommy Bambie, couldn’t be with her at school events because she was working in another country.
“My mom is an OFW. She couldn’t be there for my school programs. She was always away,” Mika said with emotion.
She explained that every time she performed at school, her older sister and cousins would record her singing. They would then send the video to her mom so she could watch Mika’s performances — just like she was really there.
“Those videos were made just for my mom. She watched them alone, but at least she could feel close to me,” Mika shared.
Now, those old clips are being shared again on social media — and people can’t get enough of them!
But that’s not all. Mika also gave a sneak peek into her next big move: she’s working on her first music album!
“It’s in the works! I’m super excited. It will include my song ‘Sino Nga Ba Siya,’” she said happily.
Mika’s journey didn’t end in PBB. She won the show along with her partner Brent Manalo, and now she’s also acting! She plays Anaca in the fantasy show “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre.”
