LEADING real estate innovator Megaworld Corp. (Megaworld) — renowned for building large-scale, mixed-use townships that integrate commercial, office, residential and leisure spaces — will receive a trophy at The Manila Times Sustainability Champions Awards, which is happening for the first time at Conrad Manila, Pasay City from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 23, 2025.
During the awards, themed “Envisioning our green future,” Megaworld will receive a sustainability champion trophy for concretizing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) with particular emphasis on SDG No. 7 or Affordable and Clean Energy; SDG No. 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDG No. 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities; and SDG No. 12, Responsible Consumption and Production.
Megaworld uses sustainable power sources such as solar installations for its townships and developments in order to achieve the Affordable and Clean Energy goals of SDG No. 7.
The corporation aims to generate thousands if not millions in direct and indirect jobs by 2030 in order to reach the Decent Work and Economic Growth goals of SDG No. 8. The aim is not only to provide job opportunities but also to contribute to Philippine economic growth.
Megaworld incorporates green technologies, environmental development programs and ecological best practices in order to meet the Sustainable Cities and Communities goals of SDG No. 11.
The corporation also implements eco-friendly practices such as the use of ecobricks, sourcing reusable materials and investing in renewable energy technologies for its buildings and spaces to attain the Responsible Consumption and Production goals of SDG No. 12.
The other factors that justify Megaworld’s receiving a sustainability champion trophy are initiative, impact, inclusiveness and integration, which are also known as the Four I’s of Sustainability of The Manila Times.
