MANILA, Philippines— President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday announced that the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) P60 billion in excess funds, which was transferred to the National Treasury, would be returned to the state-run health insurer to further expand its services.
The President made the announcement during his visit to the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, as part of his healthcare inspection.
During the visit, Marcos said that the money would come from savings generated by various agencies, including the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“We will return that P60 billion to PhilHealth. Not just to allay public concerns but because we will use it. We have savings, we will use it to further expand PhilHealth services,” Marcos said.
