MANILA, Philippines — Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) has left the country but President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. continues to monitor the weather situation, Malacañang assured the public on Tuesday.
“The President is monitoring the weather situation and (Defense) Sec. Gibo Teodoro is giving him constant updates,” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a statement.
Nando exited the Philippine area of responsibility at 8 a.m., according to the latest bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) but a low pressure area spotted earlier outside PAR has developed into tropical depression.
On Monday, Marcos said all government agencies were on alert and that preemptive measures have been put in place in anticipation of “Nando’s” onslaught.
“We are closely monitoring the situation, and all government agencies are on alert to provide assistance wherever and whenever needed,” he added.
