Marcos leads housing turnover, vows to address housing gaps

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday made a commitment anew to address housing gaps in the Philippines.

Marcos was in Naic, Cavite to lead the awarding of certificates of house and lot to the beneficiaries of the National Housing Authority’s housing project in which around 30,000 housing units were distributed nationwide.

(This is a concrete step to our dream of providing shelters to Filipinos. This shows your dedication to your sworn duty.)

(Our goal to provide shelters to every Filipino family, especially to the less fortunate ones, remains.)

The President then encouraged the NHA and other concerned agencies and stakeholders to continue providing the public with shelters as well as to give them opportunities for employment.

(Together with the shelters we are distributing, let us ensure that we will also provide employment to Filipinos so they can enrich their skills and knowledge so they can improve their lives.)

(Continue to strengthen your partnerships with other agencies and organizations. Let us ensure that the beneficiaries have constant support from the government.)

Under the Marcos administration, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development’s (DHSUD) Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino program aims to build one million housing units every year or a total of six million housing units within the six years of the present government.

BLISS

Marcos, meanwhile, recalled the Bagong Lipunan Improvement of Sites and Services (BLISS) project of his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos. He also said his administration would study building high-rise housing projects.

At mukha namang maganda at marami talagang kumuha, nagkaroon sila ng sarili nilang tirahan,” Marcos said.

(If you recall BLISS, that started the mid-rise housing projects. It looks good and a number of people have availed this.)

Ngunit pinag-aaralan natin ito siguro case-to-case ito,” he added.

(But now, maybe we can create high-rise buildings. Let’s study this, maybe this will be on a case-to-case basis.) — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
