On a fun Saturday night in Manila, something magical lit up the sky near the Mall of Asia. Hundreds of tiny flying robots, called drones, flew together to make colorful pictures and shapes in the air — like stars that could dance!
These amazing lights weren’t just for fun. They were part of a super cool celebration for the clothing brand New Era, which was celebrating its 10th birthday in the Philippines.
The drone light show was created by a company called DreamSky Entertainment Inc., led by Ms. Gayle Oblea, the boss of DreamSky Drones. She said these drones aren’t just regular flying toys — each one has bright LED lights and can fly in super exact patterns using GPS, just like how apps help your phone find places on a map!
But flying so many drones at once is a big job. Ms. Gayle shared that they use special flight software that lets them pre-program the drones to move like a team — just like dancers following music and instructions!
Before they make the drones fly, the team always makes sure it’s 100% safe. They check the area, run practice flights, and follow all the rules from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (that’s the group in charge of keeping things safe in the sky).
“We don’t just fly drones,” Ms. Gayle proudly said. “We tell stories in the sky.” That means every show is carefully planned to show something special — like words, symbols, and pictures that match the event.
She believes these drone shows are not just a fun one-time thing. “This is the future,” she said. “We’re starting a new era where brands can share their message with lights in the sky — way cooler than regular fireworks!”
