MANILA Water Co. inc. (Manila Water) — which provides water distribution, water treatment and wastewater solutions — will get a trophy during the launch ceremony of The Manila Times Sustainability Champions Awards at Conrad Manila in Pasay on Sept. 23, 2025, happening at 11 a.m. till 3 p.m.
During the ceremony, titled “Envisioning our green future,” Manila Water will get a sustainability champion trophy for incorporating the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) with focus on Clean Water and Sanitation or SDG 6; Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 7; Climate Action, SDG 13; Life below Water, SDG 14; and Life on Land, SDG 15.
Manila Water seeks to guarantee the accessibility of potable water and sanitation services for consumers, underscoring the company’s trustworthiness and superior consumer care program. In alignment with SDG 6, Manila Water has expanded its services to underserved communities through initiatives such as “Tubig para sa Barangay (Water for the Village).”
The company pursues energy efficiency programs and explores renewables to reduce power consumption and carbon emissions in support of SDG 7.
In conjunction with SDG 13, Manila Water aims to reduce its environmental footprint by 60 percent by 2025 through enhanced wastewater treatment and renewable energy sources such as solar paneling.
The company’s wastewater treatment programs minimize water pollution and protect aquatic life in compliance with SDG 14.
In line with SDG 15, Manila Water participates in rehabilitation initiatives and watershed preservation that involve reforestation projects and the deployment of integrated watershed management strategies.
Manila Water was also cited for initiative, impact, inclusiveness and integration — the Four I’s of Sustainability.
