The remains of Colonel Pergentino “Bong” Malabed, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Director for Logistics, will finally be brought home to the Philippines next week. Malabed was one of 64 passengers killed in last month’s tragic collision between an American Airlines jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter in Washington, D.C.
Final Journey Home 🕊️
Malabed’s widow, Rio Malabed, will be flying back to the United States to retrieve her husband’s personal belongings and uniform, which will accompany him on his final journey back to the Philippines.

Washington, D.C. Consul General Donna Rodriguez shared that the Malabed family has asked for privacy during this difficult time. Out of respect, no further details will be released.
Ongoing Investigation 🔍
Meanwhile, the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating whether the Black Hawk helicopter’s altimeter was faulty and if it failed to receive an advisory from Reagan National Airport’s control tower moments before the deadly crash.
