MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook the province of Masbate early Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor happened at 6:45 a.m. 28 kilometers (kms) southwest of the municipality of Claveria.
It had a depth of 10 kms and was tectonic in origin, the agency said.
Initial reports indicated that Instrumental Intensity 3 was recorded in the City of Legazpi and Legaspi, Albay and Monreal.
Phivolcs said aftershocks were unlikely.
