MANILA, Philippines—The low pressure area (LPA) spotted off west of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro has a slim chance to become a tropical depression, but it was expected to bring rain in some areas in the country including Metro Manila, the state-run weather agency said on Monday.
Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the weather disturbance would also be bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezoln ), MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), and Western Visayas.
He warned that flash floods or landslides would be possible due to moderate to at times heavy rains in these areas.
Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley would be experiencing similar weather patterns but due to the easterlies—winds coming from the Pacific Ocean that carry warm and humid weather.
According to Pagasa, the rest of the country would likely have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms.
