LGU orders preemptive evacuation after second alarm raised in Marikina River
Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro has ordered preemptive evacuation to residents living in low-lying areas near Marikina River as second alarm was raised early afternoon on Tuesday (July 17) amid incessant monsoon rains.
Marikina City Rescue 161 posted on its Facebook page that the water level at Marikina River has already reached 16 meters at around 1:22 p.m.
Residents living near the river specifically in Barangays Malanday, Nangka, and Tumana are normally told to prepare for evacuation during second alarm advisory.
If the water level reaches 17 meters in Marikina River, residents are encouraged to voluntarily evacuate.
Meanwhile, if the water level increases further and reaches 18 meters and higher, the local government will be compelled to order a forced evacuation. – UNTV News and Rescue
