MANILA, Philippines — Two major Korean organizations in the Philippines have pledged their full support for the humanitarian campaigns of the Knights of Rizal Anda Circle Chapter (KOR ACC), beginning with a large-scale medical mission in Manila next weekend.
The East Korean Community Association in the Philippines (EKCAP) and the United Korean Community Association in the Philippines (UKCAP), which represent more than 100,000 Koreans in the country, signed their partnership with KOR ACC in Pasig City over the weekend.
Their collaboration will kick off on September 27 with the first joint “Hospital on Wheels, Atbp” Mercy Mission in Intramuros, Manila. The activity, organized with the City of Manila, aims to provide free healthcare services to at least 2,000 indigent residents from Baseco and nearby communities.
“Our objective is to bring medical and surgical care directly to impoverished communities that need it most,” said KOR ACC Commander Dr. Michael Raymond Aragon. “We plan to conduct at least two missions every month, reaching patients who may not otherwise have access to essential healthcare.”
The missions will offer a wide range of free services, including consultations, surgeries, dental care, and vision screenings. Among the surgical procedures are operations under the program “Operation Tanggal Bukol, Luslos, Bingot at Iba Pa,” which include removal of cysts and tumors, hernia repairs, and cleft lip surgeries.
“Our surgeons can also correct or repair other congenital or acquired deformities, giving patients a renewed chance at a better quality of life,” Aragon said. “Dental extractions, basic oral care, and free reading glasses for those with vision problems will also be part of the services.”
EKCAP President Jeon Daego said the Korean community in the Philippines fully supports the Rizal Knights’ goal of uplifting the poor and empowering Filipino youth.
“Their drive to focus on nation-building through youth inspires us to stand with them,” Jeon said.
UKCAP President Man Yeoung Youn emphasized that their group will take part in the nutrition and feeding programs of KOR ACC, particularly its “Children’s First 1,000 Days of Life” initiative, which seeks to prevent brain stunting among children from poor families.
“You will soon see our Korean members deeply involved in these feeding programs nationwide,” Youn said.
