Manila Mayor and presidential aspirant Isko Moreno said on Friday that he will prioritize investments on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) courses to ensure the future of the youth if he wins the 2022 presidential elections.
Moreno said his administration would invest on information technology infrastructure, particularly on improving the internet connectivity for their educational needs.
He added that teaching of subjects that would make the youth more competitive with those from highly-developed nations will also be prioritized.
“We will continue to invest on STEM so that we will be competitive with Singapore and other countries. We will go to that direction,” Moreno said in a statement.
The presidential aspirant underscored that he will also continue the Build, Build, Build projects of the current administration, and to build more public schools, public hospitals, housing, businesses, and allocate more jobs.
Moreno said he will also invest in human resources development for the transformation of business process outsourcing (BPO) to knowledge process outsourcing (KPO), which will give increased income of about three times better pay.
“Pag graduate niyo, we will engage new developments from BPO to KPO. For new graduates, we need to adopt the new skills,” he said.

Moreno encouraged the youth to invest in pursuing their education with dedication, saying “poverty should also not be a hindrance in their pursuit of education.”
“Sa mga mag-aaral, huwag na huwag kayong susuko. Mag-aral kayong mabuti. I have to pursue my life in education. Pinilit kong mag-aral at magsinop sa pag-aaral,” he added.
