Senator Imee Marcos shared her strong opinion about the ongoing impeachment process against Vice President Sara Duterte and the actions against her brother, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. She made it clear that she is against the impeachment, destabilization, and outside interference in the country’s politics.
In a recent interview, Imee expressed her anger and frustration, saying that she dislikes “chaos” and doesn’t want any more trouble in the country. She also mentioned how she was surprised when discussions about the impeachment started in October 2023, and how she felt even more shocked when the complaint was moved to the Senate right before Congress went on break. Imee wondered why the impeachment was only being pushed now if they knew it couldn’t be finished before the break. She thought the House of Representatives wasn’t serious about the impeachment and was just trying to create confusion.
Imee stressed that the impeachment won’t solve the country’s bigger issues, like the rising prices of rice and food, unemployment, and the struggles of farmers, seniors, and people with disabilities. Instead of focusing on impeachment and other distractions, she believes the government should focus on the people’s needs.
The impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte included serious accusations like conspiracy to assassinate high officials, misuse of funds, corruption, and other misconducts. However, despite this, Imee continues to oppose it, feeling it would only bring more unrest to the country.
The Senate hasn’t yet discussed the impeachment because their session ended, and they’ll be focusing on the upcoming 2025 elections. The process will continue when Congress resumes on June 2.
